Isn’t it a beautiful feeling when you bring a smile on someone’s face? A smile that gives you the confidence to achieve all your dreams! Himalaya, through its nationwide cleft lip and palate initiative, Muskaan, works towards spreading smiles to children born with cleft lip and palate. This year, we have introduced a new brand campaign – ‘Ek Nayi Muskaan’ to encourage children with cleft to chase their dreams by providing them free cleft surgeries.
Smile Train is an international children’s charity with a sustainable approach to a single, solvable problem: cleft lip and palate. Smile Train empowers local medical professionals with training, funding, and resources to provide free cleft surgery and comprehensive cleft care to children globally. They advance a sustainable solution and scalable global health model for cleft treatment, drastically improving children’s lives, including their ability to eat, breathe, speak, and ultimately thrive. Since the year 2000, Smile Train India has supported more than 500,000 free cleft surgeries in India through a network of 160 partner hospitals. Himalaya and Smile Train India have joined hands to support cleft surgeries, free of cost, for underprivileged children.
Our latest campaign, ‘Ek Nayi Muskaan’ is an effort to bring back the smiles of children born with cleft lip and palate. Every child dreams of living a happy and carefree life. Sometimes, a cleft can leave a deep emotional scar and effect the child’s confidence and self-esteem. Through Ek Nayi Muskaan, we aim to provide corrective cleft lip surgery to children and help them believe that their dreams can come true. We wish to bring them the confidence of a smile to fulfill their dreams and make the most of life. Apart from creating awareness about ‘Ek Nayi Muskaan’, with every purchase of Himalaya Lip Care product INR 2 will be gifted to ‘Ek Nayi Muskaan’
In India, it is estimated that more than 35,000 babies are born with clefts, annually and hundreds and thousands of children live with untreated clefts. Children with untreated clefts not only live in isolation, but more importantly, face physical difficulties with eating, breathing and speaking. Less than 50% of cleft children get treatment due to ignorance and poverty in India. They face social isolation and many drop out of school due to speech-related learning problems, which in turn leads to loss of employment opportunities.
Our campaign ‘Ek Nayi Muskaan’ is an attempt to bring the hope of a better life for children with untreated cleft lip and palate. In collaboration with Smile Train India, we extend financial support and provide early intervention for correctional cleft lip and palate surgeries. The focus is to help these children lead a happier and healthier life.
